“David is a thoughtful and detail-oriented partner. He brings an encyclopedic knowledge of plants and does the work to ensure that his recommendations are appropriate for the native environment. While he certainly has a creative eye for design, his greatest asset is his ability to truly listen to what we care about and are trying to do — and to respond directly to that. Working with Dave is a pleasure. It is a true partnership.“

“We gave Dave a unique challenge: to design a large, decorative garden surrounding our swimming pool which is located within a wild, natural meadow space on the North Fork. His approach was thorough in researching plant materials and soil conditions as well as understanding our preferences for look and feel. The results are superb. The quality of his design reflects not only his creative talent, but his professional approach to each step of the process.”

“David studied and evaluated a very difficult small corner garden at my home in Harding Township, New Jersey.
The condition of the garden for over 40 years had many negative issues including drainage issues, a very flat boring surface, as well a very odd shape…a very difficult nut to crack indeed.
The home is one of the last remaining homes in the Morristown area from the ‘Great White Way’ as it was called at the turn of the century, 1890-1930’s.
The garden was also next to a swimming pool and buttressed up to an outdoor brick cocktail bar shaded by a weathered and injured Japanese Maple tree.
My wife a graduate of Berkley in the Arts, with a very green thumb had herself almost given up on its redesign many years before.
Dave made his study and made exacting notes on all of the existing issues, including drainage water exits, as well as drainage issues from the roof above the garden.
Dave then laid out an exacting plan covering all of the issues with drawings both one dimensional as well two dimensional colour drawings of his design.
He presented a very conservative tight budget for our discussion and my final approval.
Many of the existing plants and flowers from that area and around our property were repurposed making an appreciated savings. The existing underground sprinkler system was also modernized and adjusted for the new garden.
David also helped to get at least 5 different quotes on a new roof gutter system to protect the garden. Old discarded and forgotten Tennessee Crab Orchard stone was also added to that newly designed garden.
The job was completed in record time creating a beautiful, easy to maintain garden that stayed under budget.
I highly recommend David DePodwin for your garden and property beautification needs.”

Above: Our client loved the design for his pool garden so much, he asked that the design also include the rehab of a 45′-long planting bed adjacent to the pool’s stone deck. Existing plants were utilized wherever possible while integrating the overall scheme.
“It looks as though it has always been here”

Naturalized meadow garden
Buzzards Bay region, MA
Margaret H.
“David’s guidance and creativity in the re-imaging of our rural, 2 acre meadow in Massachusetts has resulted in a native border that will no doubt be the home to lots of pollinators and bird life. Thirty years ago, we had done some limited planting that was now overgrown. Our goal was to transform the property so it would have a more naturalistic look, based on ecological gardening principles.
Starting with a detailed site assessment and working through the design, David listened carefully to what we were trying to accomplish. He brought structure and tremendous knowledge to the design process. Starting this spring we will implement the plan with David taking the lead and are confident that the finished project will be a winner thanks to his creative and accomplished landscape design skills. Strongly recommend LCDesign.”
