Renaissance of a Florentine villa’s pool garden
‘Villa Del Raggio’ – House of the Rising Sun

Design Theme: Garden renaissance of an historic Florentine villa
Design Elements: Enhance and respect the original Florentine villa grandeur of the historic estate, built 1903-05.
Seek design elements that elevate a tired but critical primary parcel as a focal point of the pool terrace and surrounding area.
Relocate statues ‘Boy with Bird Bath‘ and ‘Ship Atop Globe‘, to the primary parcel, framed by the house’s vertical architecture.
Eliminate the lawn by adding a crescent-shaped pea-gravel and Tennessee Crab Orchard stone pathway to circumnavigate the new garden area surrounded by lush plantings, ranging from Rhododendrons to Japanese Forest Grass, Blue Fescue to Turtleheads, Northern River Oats to Liriope to Daylilies. Tennessee Crab Orchard flagstone found on site used to enhance footing, duplicating existing stone pool deck.
A Montauk Daisy, a client favorite, crowns the center of the half-oval planting bed, all abutting a large salt water pool, also with revitalized surrounding planting beds.

The ‘bar garden’ and guest entry sequence of Villa Del Raggio is given new life.
